NBA Nikola Jokic est MVP, Shaq réagit

NBA – Shaq donne son avis cash sur le MVP de Nikola Jokic !

It’s now official, Nikola Jokic is the one who was voted MVP of the regular season this year. Observers therefore drop their opinion on the choice of voters, Shaquille O’Neal being particularly frank on this subject.

Maintaining your MVP title is never easy, since you have to be able to meet the exceptional expectations that come with the first award. Nikola Jokic was able to live with it, however, as he was once again voted the league’s best player by voters in 2021-22. It must be said that despite the long absences of his main lieutenants (Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr.), the Nugget dropped heavy with 27 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists on average.

It was therefore not at all a surprise that he ended up among the finalists, and the question was whether he was going to be able to leave Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid behind him. It is now done, even if not everyone agrees with this choice. Shaquille O’Neal for example is one of them, as he said following the official announcement of the results. Without taking away his credit from the Serb, the Big Diesel explains that he would have given his vote to someone else:

Shaq: “I would like to understand the selection criteria”

It was very tight. But I, personally, would like to see and understand the criteria that determine who the MVP really is. We all have different opinions. I thought it was the baddest, the strongest in the league who would be elected, but some people say “team this, team that”. The most popular and likeable guy will have votes in his favour.

It was really close, I’m not mad at the Joker, I like his story… He’s a second-round drafted guy, I can respect that. I like how he plays. It plays like a real interior, a European interior, and the modern interior all rolled into one. I like his game, but I thought Embiid had a slight advantage. I would like to understand the criteria.

The Cameroonian pivot of the Sixers appears to be the biggest loser in this history, while he too shone individually (30 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists on average) and his franchise had a better record than Denver (51- 31 against 48-34). However, he sees himself snubbed for the second year in a row, to the dismay of his fans and the player himself. The Process thus held a speech similar to that of the Hall of Famer on his adversary, but he also pushed a big rant on the voters.

Shaq is happy for Nikola Jokic, but he did not hide that he would have preferred to see Joel Embiid rewarded. He also reiterates that the criteria for the distinction would benefit from being better defined, in order to avoid debates on the subject.
