Football: des parents soupçonnés d’inventer des maladies à leur enfant pour des maillots gratuits

As revealed by Bourg-Péronnas’ communication manager, several Ligue 2 and National 1 clubs suspect a family of using their child’s illness to obtain free jerseys. They would be in all a dozen to have received the same request.

It all starts with a tweet from the communication manager of the Bourg Péronnas club. This Wednesday, on his personal Twitter account, he publishes the video of little Lucas, sick, who received a jersey from his favorite club. According to his parents, Lucas has leukemia and left Bourg-en-Bresse six months ago. Only, another communication manager reacts, that of Quevilly-Rouen. The latter realizes that he has received the same request from the same child saying that he was… from Rouen. Same observation on the side of the Chambly club in the Oise and AJ Auxerre.

Each time a different last name… and a different disease

“There is not only Quevilly. Auxerre called me, specifies to RMC Sport Thomas Félix, in charge of the communication of Bourg-Péronnas. I had messages from Créteil, from Boulogne in National, Saint-Priest in National 2, Alexy Bosetti received the same messages. If I launched this call on the networks, it was to stem this phenomenon of scam. It does not only concern these parents, but they have gone very far.

In total: a dozen Ligue 2 and National 1 clubs have been contacted by this family. As several Ligue 2 community managers confirmed to RMC Sport, the parents used different surnames each time and declared a different illness for their child. For the time being, it is impossible to know if the young child is really sick or not, but the case has ignited social networks and shocked Internet users.

“What is shocking is the attitude of the parents. Everyone supported the child, who is clearly manipulated (…) The child is clearly instrumentalized”
