ASSE : La colère gronde

Defeats at home against Reims (1-2), ASSE no longer has its destiny in its hands. More than ever, the Greens are on the brink of the abyss and Ligue 2, just one day from the end. A situation that infuriates the supporters, who demonstrated violently this weekend.

The party could have been great last Saturday at Geoffroy Guichard, for the last of the season at home. In the heads of the leaders at the start of the season, we were surely thinking of celebrating a continuation or even more with the supporters, but it was a disaster that occurred instead. In front of a cauldron that sounded hollow (total camera), the Greens lost at home 2-1 against Reims, and fell to 19and place after the success of Metz against Angers (1-0). Before the 38and next Saturday at 9 p.m., ASSE is no longer in control of its destiny.

Shortly after the final whistle, about fifty fans from Saint-Etienne launched several smoke bombs, fireworks, and firecrackers in the direction of Geoffroy Guichard, before being dispersed by the police. A sling of supporters against the management, to hear them chanting “Management resignation” during the attack.

The home of one of the targeted presidents

This release was not enough for some supporters since Sunday, the house of Roland Romeyer, co-president of ASSE with Bernard Caïazzo, was found vandalized on Sunday morning. The surrounding wall as well as the entrance gate have been tagged, reports the local newspaper Le Progrès, which announces the opening of an investigation. This is not the first time that supporters have attacked the management, many insulting banners against the two presidents had also been placed in front of Geoffroy Guichard in recent years. Fans who have only one demand: a sale as soon as possible and therefore the departure of the two presidents.

The situation could still be tense next weekend in the event of direct relegation of the Stéphanois. To finish as a roadblocker (best possible place), the Greens must imperatively take points in Nantes, and do better than Metz, which moves to Paris. Answer this Saturday, May 21 at 9 p.m.
