(BFM Bourse) – The Baden-Württemberg transport authority has ordered 130 Coradia Stream regional train sets from the French group for 2.5 billion euros, excluding a potential increase since an option has been taken to go up to 100 additional trains.

After finishing slightly in the red (-0.72%) in April, thereby signing a fifth monthly decline in a row, Alstom begins May on a more encouraging note. Carried last Tuesday by an analysis of Citi, in the purchase upstream of the publication on May 11 of the results of the financial year 2021-2022 (closed at the end of March), the title benefits from a new current of purchase Monday at the announcement of a major order, the largest ever won by the group in Germany.

The French rail transport champion has just been awarded a contract to supply 130 Coradia Stream regional high-capacity double-decker trains from Landesanstalt Schienenfahrzeuge Baden-Württemberg (SFBW) for the Baden-Württemberg network in Germany.

Additionally, the order comes with an option to order up to 100 additional trains.

Energy efficient trains

While commending the level of performance and comfort of the trains in question, Baden-Württemberg Transport Minister Winfried Hermann also underlined that Alstom was committed to ensuring the “flawless” daily operational capability of the trains as part of the so-called ‘life cycle’ model (LCC model). “We have also ensured that, although these very powerful trainsets can reach speeds of 200 km/h, at the same time we obtain particularly energy-efficient vehicles. Alstom will be responsible for meeting the energy consumption criteria during throughout the duration of the contract,” said Winfried Hermann.
