65 000€ pour le Volkswagen ID. Buzz : mais pourquoi est-il hors de prix ?

From Friday May 20, 2022, our German neighbors will already be able to pre-book their ID. Buzz or its cargo version for professionals. Volkswagen took the opportunity to announce the prices for the German market. And the ID. Buzz is really not given !

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz was presented on March 9, 2022 in its home version and in its professional version. The first deliveries of this new model in the ID range should take place in the fall. In the meantime, from Friday May 20, 2022, our German neighbors will already be able to pre-book their ID online. buzz. Which reveals the price of this new model across the Rhine at nearly €65,000 (before the German bonuses).

It will also soon be possible to reserve your ID.Buzz in France. By the end of the month, the site dedicated to booking will also be available from us, the prices for the French market will be known at that time. However, they should not be very different from those announced for Germany, and this is not necessarily good news for those who were looking forward to the idea of offering the new generation Combi.

The most expensive vehicle in the ID range

Since the launch of the ID range. from Volkswagen, prices go crescendo from ID.3 to ID.5 GTX. According to the prices communicated by Volkswagen for Germany ID. Buzz will therefore be even more expensive than the ID.5 GTX, the sportiest electric coupe SUV in the range.

Without the German bonus which increases it to just over 56,600 euros, the ID. Buzz in its Pro version is announced at a price of 64,581.30 euros. And this tariff is probably without certain aesthetic, technological and practical options, which may prove necessary.

If it is displayed at more than 65,000 €, we can say that the new combi is really no longer aimed at the “bohemian” public that it had seduced in the 1960s. We are flirting dangerously with family electric models of the premium segment. It is quite daring as a positioning for the German brand, especially since it will not be able to benefit from any bonus in France.

Even its professional version named ID. Buzz Cargo is announced at more than €54,430. With this type of price, it rubs shoulders with Mercedes as a direct competitor.

Not the most efficient, not the most powerful, but then why this price?

We will certainly have to wait for the tests of this model to understand the reason for this price positioning.

This model shares its platform with the rest of the ID range. It offers the same combination of 77 kWh battery and 204 hp motor in the rear position, found on ID.4 or ID.5. It is therefore not the performance part that sets it apart from the rest of the range.

Its autonomy cannot be the strong point of the model, since with a size and a significant weight, the efficiency will necessarily be set back compared to the others.

This would mean that the vehicle’s trim and its modularity for a 5-seater vehicle 4.71 m long, fully justify the highest price in the range.

One can imagine that by launching this model in a high-end finish, Volkswagen tempers the volume of orders to be able to meet demand, while its production lines are at their maximum.
